Örnek:

(Geçen hafta üç tane halı aldılar.)
önce cümlenin nesnesi bulunur ve bu passive cümlede özne ola rak başa geçer.

Active cümle Simple Past (-di'li geçmiş) olduğu için "to be fiilinin "were" şekli kullanılır.
(Eğer nesne görevindeki isim tekil olsaydı "was" şekli kullanılırdı.

Three carpets were.....

Active cümlenin fiili (buy) past participle (üçüncü haline) çev rilir. (bought) (örnek cümlede fiil past - ikinci haldedir.)

Three carpets were bought ...

Active cümlenin varsa yer ve zaman zarfı passive cümlede olduğu gibi kullanılır.
(örnek cümlede last week zaman zarfıdır.)

The carpet were bought last week.

Böylece "active" cümle "passive" cümleye çevrilmiş olur.

(Geçen hafta yüz tane tablo satıldı.)

He paid my sister a lot of money.
My sister was paid a lot of money.
(Kız kardeşime pek çok para ödendi.)

He offered me another job.
I was offered another job.
(Bana başka bir iş teklif edildi.)

We wrote this book carefully.
This book was carefully written.
(Bu kitap dikkatlice yazıldı.)

They took him to the prison.
He was taken to the prison.
(O hapishaneye götürüldü.
